    How ready are you to begin your job search? Your responses to the following will provide areas for additional preparation:

 
I. What You Know About Yourself
_____ 1. Can you articulate the knowledge and skills you have gained from your education that will be useful to you in the work you are seeking?
_____ 2. Can you explain why you chose your major?
_____ 3. Can you name both work and nonwork activities you do well and most enjoy?

4. For each of your most important work and nonwork experiences, can you list

  • five things you did especially well?
  • five things you learned?
  • several contributions you made or accomplishments?
_____ 5. Can you describe your greatest strengths?
_____ 6. Have you clearly defined your geographical preferences and limitations?
_____ 7. Can you describe the characteristics of the work environment where you believe you would be happiest and most productive?
_____ 8. Can you clearly and confidently state your career goals?
_____ 9. Can you distinguish your more immediate job objectives from your long-range career goals?

II. The World of Work
_____ 10. Can you name several positions titles or fields of employment that might be appropriate for your interests and abilities?
